Phase 2 of the New Inspection Regime of the Companies Register under the Companies Ordinance (Cap. 622) will commence on 24 October 2022 (“the Commencement Date”).

Starting from the Commencement Date, sensitive personal information (i.e. usual residential address and full identification numbers) on the Index of Directors on the Companies Register and newly delivered documents will be protected. The Registry has revised 26 specified forms which pertain to the reporting of the above sensitive personal information for use starting from the Commencement Date.


The upcoming Phase 3 would become effective from 27 December 2023. Data subjects could apply to the Registry for protecting from public inspection their Protected Information contained in documents registered with the Registry before commencement of Phase 2 (Withheld Information), and replace such information with their correspondence addresses and partial IDNs. Only 'Specified persons' could apply to the Registry for access to Withheld Information of directors and other persons.

Starting 0.00am on 12 August 2022, inbound travellers will be subject to 3 nights of compulsory quarantine and 4 nights of medical surveillance (“3+4” arrangement) regardless of vaccination status.



During the compulsory quarantine period, unless with the permission of an authorized officer, the person shall confine himself/herself to the place of quarantine and are prohibited from leaving Hong Kong.


During the subsequent medical surveillance and self-monitoring period, the person is not barred from leaving Hong Kong. He/she must undergo testing(s) per relevant instructions if he/she is in Hong Kong on the specified day(s) for compulsory testing.


Hopefully the inbound Hotel Quarantine would be further eased in November 2022.
